Girly Chic to Casual Street
With it FINALLY feeling like Spring here in the DMV, I thought what better way to welcome the long awaited season than by putting these pants to use. I got inspiration from a pair Kendall Jenner wore while out in LA a few years back. I instantly fell in love and with the whole “paper bag waist” trend going on I figured I’d take my own spin on it.
Luckily, this DIY was super simple to make and easy for beginner sewers (FYI). I traced a pair of high waisted jeans that fit just right and adjusted the pattern from that (aka making the pant legs wide). Having an elastic waistband helps give off the ‘paper bag’ effect.
Of course my first instinct was to style these pretty girly while still giving emphasis on the pants. The silky-ness of them give off such a regal look that I wanted to keep the top simple but fun by wearing a classic button down draped a bit past my shoulders and tied at the waist. I styled it with a clear gemstone necklace and clear heels to match
Like any girl, I have two sides- part girly girl, part tomboy. I’ve been loving a bunch of street style lately and have been trying to incorporate more of that into my own personal style (I blame the recent sneaker craze). My bestie has the cutest boyish style and have been feeding off her vibe when I try to put more casual looks together. Here, I styled the same pants on her but in a more casual way.
First of all, I’m really not one to clash casual with classy but I’m obsessed with how this came out! You can never go wrong with a simple white tee and white sneaks. These ASICS give me Balenciaga vibes so I had to use them. The windbreaker is the cherry on top of the look because of the pink and purple detailing. I threw a beanie on her to give more of a street look.
I hope these looks gave you all some inspiration!
